Lecture costs

The RGSSA lecture fee has increased from $2 to $5, our first rise in a long time. As a non-profit, volunteer-led organisation, we've absorbed increasing lecture costs as much as possible, even with the State Library providing our venue for free and speakers donating their time. However, to maintain the quality of our lectures and the welcoming atmosphere you value, this increase is now necessary. The $5 fee will allow us to:

• Continue providing refreshments (wine, juice, cheese, crackers) that enhance the social aspect of our lectures.
• Maintain our practice of showing appreciation to speakers with a small token.
• Occasionally contribute to speaker travel costs, enabling us to host experts from further away.
• Support the costs of recording and uploading lectures to YouTube for members who cannot attend in person.
• Cover minor administrative costs associated with each lecture.

This decision was carefully considered by Council in late 2024 to ensure the continued success of our lecture program and the value we provide to our members. We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support. We look forward to seeing you at future lectures.
