Chris is a PhD Candidate in Geography at Flinders University and Statistical Analyst at the Australian Bureau of Statistics. He has a keen interest in geography and development in the Indo-Pacific region. His study and research background includes ongoing projects investigating labour migrant outcomes in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme and demographic analysis of Timor-Leste’s population. His work at the ABS sees him developing projections of Australia’s future national, state, and suburban populations. He enjoys travelling, playing futsal, and curling up on the couch with a good book and his cat.

Jennifer studied geography at the University of Göttingen (Germany) and is now based in Adelaide, exploring her passion for GIS, sustainability, and all things spatial. As Deputy Chair of GeoNext, Jennifer loves bringing people together—whether it’s through events, networking or sharing opportunities for early-career geographers. She’s driven by curiosity, learning, and helping others feel connected in the geography world. Outside of work, you’ll find her playing soccer, hiking in the Hills, practising yoga, or travelling.
Annie is a geoscientist and researcher currently based at Adelaide University. Her lifelong curiosity about the natural world has evolved into a scientific career underpinned by a diverse academic foundation, including a PhD in Ecology, an MPhil in Palynology, and a previous life in Archaeology. She currently specialises in remote sensing, utilising hyperspectral imagery and LiDAR data to better understand complex ecosystem processes. An avid adventurer, Annie is often found summiting peaks such as Mt Taranaki. She is excited about the innovative directions geography is taking for the next generation.
Upon graduating from Flinder’s University, with a degree in Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Geography and Environment, and minoring in Sociology, Charlotte has continued to develop her interest in social geography. Working as an Urban Planning Intern, at the Department for Housing and Urban Development, Charlotte has been able to continue studying the state’s geography, population, and demography. As a member of GeoNext, Charlotte is passionate about providing young geographers with support to nurture their interest in the discipline, as well as promoting the fundamental work geographers play in the development of the natural and built-world we inhabit.
Rosie followed her love of geography and the natural world to study Environmental Policy and Management at the University of Adelaide. She is now working at Conservation Volunteers Australia, bringing together her passions of nature, event planning and community engagement. In her spare time, she loves reading, hiking and trying her hand at any arts and crafts!
Maia is currently studying Marine and Wildlife Conservation at Adelaide Uni, with the aim of transforming her lifelong love of geography into tangible benefits for the environment and community. She has a special interest in environmental policy and research, sustainability, and all things natural. Maia currently volunteers with various organisations including GreenAdelaide, Trees For Life and most recently GeoNext, where she hopes to promote positive human-nature interactions among young geographers. When her chaotic schedule allows it, Maia enjoys spending time with friends, drawing, reading, staying physically active, and taking pictures of any and all critters that cross her path.
