The Society supports a number of awards and prizes to promote geographical education and research, and to recognise members’ efforts. Since 1947 the Lewis family have been the main benefactors of the tax deductible Fund that provides many of the awards.
In April 2021 the RGSSA Council approved a revision to the award guidelines to clarify the intent of each award outlining; – for what and to whom is the award given; – how are awardees acknowledged; and – how are awardees selected.
