A rare opportunity to see some of these botanical images.
Firstly a collection of nine lithographs from Australian Landscapes by the Austrlian artist Eugene von Guerard (1811-1901) will be on display. Von Guerard was one of the period's most well known landscape artist who was noted for the accuracy of his work .
At the same time a large selection of prints will be on display from Illustrations of the Botany of Captain Cook’s Voyage Round the World 1771 by Joseph Banks, Daniel Solander and James Britten published by the British Museum in 1900. These were made from the same copper plates ordered by Joseph Banks in 1771 and used eventually to produce Bank’s Florelegium in 1980-1990.
