A fascinating insight into Joc and Leigh's travels in the outback and especially the Kimberley
The Kimberley region is one of the great natural and cultural landscapes of the world. Over 70,000 years ago this was also one of the likely entry points for Australia’s oldest continuous culture. There are over a million rock art sites estimated to punctuate this immense cultural presence in the sandstone escarpments and outcrops, highlighted by the enigmatic, elegant Gwion Gwion figures and the great ancestral Wanjina creator ancestors. Joc has been visiting the area annually for the past 30 years. Last year, Leigh Radford joined Joc for a first-hand experience of ‘roughing it’ in the Kimberley wilds. Joc and Leigh will take you on an armchair adventure to this remarkable and least known parts of Australia.
If you are interested in joining us for dinner following the lecture, we will be going to Café Brunelli, 187 Rundle St at 7 pm.
