See the Rufus River and cruise up the Darling River, experience the outback between Mildura and Renmark. Birdlife abounds and this section is rich in indigenous and European history.
DAY 1
Morning coach transfer from Adelaide CBD at 8.00 am. Travel up past Mildura to Trentham Estate Winery for a BBQ lunch. Our river adventure begins as we board the Spirit of the Murray and begin to glide quietly down the Murray River with our first point of interest being Lock11, the first of six we go through. We then cruise on past Mildura to Wentworth and check into a hotel overnight.
DAY 2
Departing Wentworth, we journey a little distance up the Darling River before returning to the Murray. Lunch is on board. We cruise past the Ana Branch Station to hear about the early history of Rufus River area. We cruise up Frenchman s Creek to Lake Victoria and view the old Kulnine Pump. Coach back to Wentworth for the night. ’
DAY 3
We reboard the boat at Lock 9 and travel downstream, through Locks 8 and 7 and past the Murray Sunset National Park, Pollards Cutting, Scotties Wood Pile, the ruins of Cal Lal Police Station, and on to Customs House at the South Australian border. Coach on to Renmark for overnight stay.
DAY 4
We return to the boat and continue in the South Australian river section through Lock 6, past Chowilla Station and stopping at the Woolshed Brewery at Wilkadene. Lunch is on board before we reach Renmark Wharf and bid farewell to the crew of the Spirit of the Murray . We return to Adelaide by coach, arriving around 55.30 pm.
