RGSSA Photo Competition 2025

The RGSSA is celebrating its 140th Anniversary in 2025 and to honour this the Society is conducting its inaugural photo competition with the theme - “Geographic Icons of South Australia”. To find out how members can enter, read more.

Image and submission requirements: 

• A maximum of 1 image per member Images must be previously unpublished
• Images must have been taken in the last 5 years 
• Photos must be in digital format with a high resolution. Camera or mobile phone capture is usually fine 
• Photos larger than 2MB shall be resized for online judging
• Landscape or portrait orientation can be submitted 
• Avoid images with identifiable people Include a caption no more than 20 words for each image as well as your name, location of the image and the year it was taken.

Payment methods: 

1. Direct deposit into the Society’s account BSB: 105-134, Account: 0793 30640, Reference - include your name and “Photo” 

2. Cash – due to Mortlock access issues, cash may be hand delivered to the office by pre-arrangement with admin@rgssa.org.au

Judging:

Submissions will be judged online by RGSSA members, which will take place from September. 

Winners shall be announced and given prizes after the online voting.   The value of the prizes is yet to be determined.

Please note: By submitting your photo to the RGSSA 2025 Geographic Icons of South Australia Photography Competition, you agree to share the photos with RGSSA for future use. All photos will be copyrighted under a Creative commons Attribution 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/, which means that each photo is owned by the creator (you as the photographer) and it can be shared and adapted freely when appropriate credit is given.
