How geographical futures can be navigated via our connection to nature

Sophie Thomson

Come and be inspired by Sophie who believes that aside from the obvious environmental benefits, gardening improves our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing as well as that of the broader community.

Sophie covers how gardening can help overcome many of the Challenges that we face, both as a community and as individuals. From Climate Change and the Urban heat island effect, to a lack of urban habitat, food insecurity, and lack of community and social connections, gardening provides sustainable answers to many of Society’s problems.

Sophie Thomson’s infectious enthusiasm continues to inspire countless people of all ages to put their green thumbs to good use – for the sake of the environment, their families’ enjoyment, and their own wellbeing.

Apart from her media, public speaking and writing commitments, her current interests now include assisting and facilitating flood and fire ravaged communities with their environmental and mental health challenges.

Sophie’s work has been recognised through numerous awards ….the most recent being as recipient of the 2024 South Australian Inspirational Women’s Award.
