Field Trip to Adelaide Town Hall to discover their treasures relating to Colonel William Light
There are many links between the Society and Colonel William Light, such as plaques to mark the location of Light’s original cottage in Thebarton (instigated by RGSSA members), and other treasures held by the Society, including portraits and other art works, Light’s dumpy level and early maps of the City of Adelaide. But as the first Surveyor-General of the new British province of South Australia, there are even more treasures at the Adelaide Town Hall.
This Field Trip will enable members to hear stories of Colonel Light from Society member Glen Woodward, who is a passionate and experienced guide at the Adelaide Town Hall, with a wealth of knowledge about one of Adelaide’s icons. Please meet from 10.15am onwards in the Town Hall foyer, and wear your RGSSA name badge if you have one. The group will be registered as a whole.
