The Forest Flora of South Australia, published 1883-1890, with special reference to artist Rosa Fiveash.
Many of our members may be familiar with the botanical prints from The Forest Flora of South Australia. Some may even have some hanging on their walls! This was the first publication of large format, high quality, botanical prints issued in South Australia.
Do you know the story behind this publication - how it came to be and who was involved in its production? What do you know about local water-colourist Rosa Fiveash who carried out most of the art work and who went on to be South Australia's most respected botanical artist of the time.
We hope to arrange for some of Rosa Fiveash’s original watercolours, held by the State Library, to be brought to our meeting for members to see. This is a very rare opportunity not to be missed!
Come along and see the many examples of this treasure and hear member Hugh Orr tell the story!
