What we came across in a shelf check of the Library

George and Liz Willanski

The presentation incudes books and items that caught our interest, covering local and global relevance. A bible from 1550. Wonderful early illustrations of flora and fauna and more.

The task was to do a shelf check of all the books with a Dewey prefix of RGS or RGSP. That is all the books in the meeting room and a small overflow on level 3 of the Mortlock and the large format books in the cabinets on level 2 of the Mortlock, at the southern end near the clock. Our cataloguers supplied check lists to work from and the results enabled the catalogue to be updated, including spotting multiple copies and items that had been mis shelved or weren’t in the catalogue. The presentation incudes books and items that caught our interest, covering local and global relevance. A bible from 1550. Wonderful early illustrations of flora and fauna. Panoramic etchings. Overall an eclectic selection for your perusal.
